Not every job needs a full-size excavator. For trenching, small-site digging, utility work, and general loading, a TLB (Tractor Loader Backhoe) is often the more practical — and more affordable — choice. Loadrite hires TLBs nationwide from $50 per hour.
What Makes a TLB Different From an Excavator
A TLB is a dual-purpose machine — a loader bucket on the front, a backhoe (digging) arm on the back. That combination makes it one of the most flexible machines you can hire, especially for jobs that need to switch between digging and loading without bringing in two separate pieces of equipment.
Common uses across Zimbabwe include:
- Trenching for water, sewer, and cable lines
- Small to mid-size foundation digging for residential and light commercial builds
- Site access and material handling — loading sand, rubble, or aggregate directly on site
- Driveway, yard, and small road work, where a full excavator would be oversized
- Agricultural earthworks — clearing, leveling, and digging on farms
Because it’s tyre-mounted rather than tracked, a TLB also moves between sites and around tight urban or residential areas more easily than tracked plant — useful if your project isn’t on open ground.
